The Jones Quartet would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. H____ and the musical committee for inviting us to play for the service today. It is a special honor to be here!
The Jones family has been playing as a quartet for five years, the result of our parents' hope we'd eventually get beyond Strings for Dummies Book I and the efforts of our terrifically patient teacher, Mrs. Pat Gurin. Recently, our youngest member Hope has graduated to first violin, having practiced with considerable more regularity than the rest of her deadbeat siblings. So far our training and repetoire is entirely classical and we play for the enjoyment of our family and (occasionally) friends. If anyone is considering coaching quartet fiddle music, we'll be at the front of the church putting our instruments away after service and we'd love to talk to you.
In answer to the frequently-asked question, the girls are actually not triplets: their ages are 24 (Michelle, violin), 22 (Anne, cello), and 15 (Hope, violin), with Mark (viola) nicely sandwiched in the middle at 18. We've all been playing about twelve years, give or take a bit, and we're looking forward to many more years of being able to drive each other nuts with flat notes and alternate suggestions on how Beethoven ought to be played.

I think it's a little too goofy, but I like the 'we're honored to be here' bit.
