The Jones Quartet would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. _________ and the music committee for inviting us to perform for you today. We have been asked to give a short biography, but please don't worry, it will be short.
Michelle, the second violinist, and also the eldest of the quartet was actually the inspiration for the rest of us. At the age of two she decided she wanted to play the violin after watching a friend of our parents perform at church every week. She did not actually get a violin until she was eleven years old, however, when friends of our family took us to Elderly Instruments in Lansing where they also purchased instruments for their children.
We started playing our instruments with our friends on a semi-regular basis, and eventually graduated to playing duets with each other when Anne, our cellist started reading music, and then quartets when Mark, our violist, and Hope, our first violinist, reached a stage where they were able to play the music that Michelle and Anne were practicing.
That was a little more than five years ago now. The Brandenburg concerto we will play for the ___________ is the very first piece of music we ever played as a quartet. Thank you again for your generosity, and we hope you enjoy the music.

2.) I would leave the Elderly Instruments part out.

Naming when everyone starts playing might get confusing, unless you did it sort of like this: "Michelle and Anne began playing about the same time twelve years ago, with Mark and Hope beginning two years later. It was a longtime dream of our parents to have their kids play together and as soon as the easier quartets were in reach our teacher started us right in."
This would cover the whole thing about why we started playing, etc. It would also leave out sort of extraneous bits like me wanting to play since I was little and doing orchestra and so on.
4.) Don't forget to thank our favorite violin teacher for her coaching!
